I'm Really Optimistic about $GE

Damn this group still does finance!  GE recently was taken off the Dow, the last original member of the index, due to continued struggles down 50% year on year.

Our Tweet

As referenced on the tweet tombstone the main cause was a sort of overextension where they ended up with too many divisions operating in too many industries, and it just wasn't profitable enough.

Edit: They actually got replaced by Walgreens and not CVS so I apologize for the erroneous shot at CVS.

Now for the optimism:  CEO John Flannery is trimming the fat, cutting dividends, and seems to have a plan for the future.  They offloaded $20 billion in assets the GE Lighting, Transportation, Oil and Gas, and Healthcare.  They are going to focus on big revenue divisions of Aviation, Power, Renewable Energy, and Capital.  They are up substantially in the past week so maybe investors are buying in.

I'm hopeful because GE is an awesome, historic, company.  Also I own stock. (DISCLAIMER).
